Hi, this is Robin Heppell from FuneralFuturist.com, and welcome to “The Funeral Strategy and Marketing Show.” This is a little video that I’m going to do on a regular basis so that I can share with you and other funeral professionals just some of my experiences, tips, and strategies for you to have your funeral home more strategic, more competitive, and win more calls, serve more families. What we’re going to talk about today is setting up Google AdWords. Google AdWords is a very effective marketing tool. It allows you to get in front of people who are searching for funeral homes and cremation services. The great thing is, you only pay for when someone clicks on your ad. Unlike the yellow pages or any other type of marketing you pay upfront, this is what they call pay per click, so you only pay when someone clicks on your ad.
Now, the first thing you’re going to think of is, “Hey, I don’t want my competitor clicking on my ad.” Sure, none of us do. The reality is that’s going to happen a couple times, but if it happens a lot, a couple things happen. One is that Google can track click fraud. [laughs] It’s not much of a tongue twister.
